It never ever would have happened if I hadn’t roped my sister into reading it, too. While it’s entertaining and even hilarious at times, it is more often than not an absolute slog so having someone to pull you through really really helps.
Here’s my review:
This is a book in which everyone is horrible. People who aren’t actively horrible are horrible in their passivity. Wait- maybe Dobbin isn’t horrible?
I guess I don’t mind terrible characters, but when they hurt people below them and still succeed it’s just too much real life. A lot of Vanity Fair is too much real life. The ugly side.
There you go. Now, I never have to read it again.
